GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for collecting locally based research materials and order source/reference manual. Creates planning maps for current and future database projects. Conduct initial evaluation of source material for suitability.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Carry out Field Data Collection using D-GPS and Mobile WinGWS technology
Identify and establish local government agency contacts and collect information through telephone contact and field inspections
Maintain a log of database contacts, files Database Update Requests (DURs) and Research Leads for an assigned data base update area and conduct required field research for confirmation
Create and maintain an index for source material
Perform POI (Point of Interest) data collection (e.g. source collection, inventorying, cataloging, managing data flow from field staff to POI team)
Geo-code attributes using WinGWS and CICS; update databases for additions, changes (update) and specification modifications
Use all attributing skills (e.g. artery, dividers, sign turns Pos), addressing (e.g. Zip+4 report), and sources (e.g. Base Maps, Aerials) to ensure accurate representation of real world conditions in the database
Use display checks and batch reports for in-line quality assurance
Correct potential data errors or address customer concerns using current update methods
Carry out release work (report and repair) in support of the Database Engineer or Release Coordinator
Conduct systematic route testing of a completed database
Attend, actively participate and successfully complete the 3 basic training modules for WinGWS as well as other specific training as required
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Undergraduate degree (preferred in science/technology), no previous work experience needed
GIS experience is preferred and proficiency in PC software packages including a familiarity with geographic encoding
Basic written and verbal communication skills
Ability for spatial orientation (e.g. applying map to “real world”)
Ability to travel frequently and for extended periods within and outside the Area
Possess valid driver’s license and good driving record
