The Farm Service Agency (FSA) is the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s principle agency charged with providing a stable and abundant American food supply. This objective is best met by supporting America’s production agriculture community and helping protect the nation’s food and natural resources.
FARM SERVICE AGENCY (FSA) COUNTY EMPLOYEES: Permanent FSA County Employees without prior Federal tenure who are selected for a Civil Service position under Public Law 105-277 will be given a career-conditional appointment and must serve a 1-year probationary period.
This position is located in the Deputy Administrator for Management, Information Technology Services Division, Geospatial Information and Executive Management Systems Center, Geospatial Information Systems Office.
The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) provides a full range of computer and data processing services to all functional areas of the Farm Service Agency and to other USDA agencies. The Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) provides requirements definition, design, guidance in development, implementation and maintenance for scientific applications including the processing of remotely sensed images, mathematical modeling and Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) that utilize advanced satellite, meteorological and communications technology to assess global agricultural crop conditions and for the implementation of GIS and exploitation of Geospatial data at USDA Service Centers. These systems are to enhance the ability of FSA to support farm programs and to perform crop inventory.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: At the GS-12 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-12 LEVEL: At least one or more years of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service) applying applications software design and development principles, concepts, techniques, and methods in the design, documentation, development, modification, testing, installation, implementation and support of new or existing applications software. This experience includes analyzing and refining systems requirements; translating systems requirements into application prototypes; participated in a team that wrote, debugged, and maintained code for multiple applications, determining output media/formats; and designing user interfaces. This experience demonstrates accomplishment of computer project assignments that required a wide range of knowledge of computer requirements and techniques pertinent to applications software.
Also, must possess work experience in implementation and use of emerging methodologies for digital Geospatial information.
THE SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION IS NOT QUALIFYING FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL.
