Senior Consultant/Project Manager – Spatial Data Infrastructure

Use your knowledge of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) standards to provide consulting and project management services in the SDI market. This is a challenging opportunity to help our customers participate in a societal GIS in which stakeholders utilize shared distributed GIS services based on a framework of common standards and policies.

The variety of project work enables you to use your software development, database engineering, GIS expertise, and project management skills in a number of growing markets such as natural resources, commercial, government, utilities, and defense. Most positions are based at our headquarters in Redlands, California and our regional office in Washington, D.C.; however, opportunities are also available in other locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of innovative SDI solutions using our enterprise GIS technology.
  • Work with the ESRI marketing and sales teams to develop Professional Services opportunities within the SDI market.
  • Develop proposals and implementation plans including scope, budget, and schedule for multiyear SDI initiatives.
  • Design and implement standards as they apply to framework data models, metadata, content, accuracy, quality standards, data production systems, and portals.
  • Lead project teams and manage contract deliverables through the application of planning, tracking, change control, quality control, and risk management techniques.
  • Provide user requirements and technical feedback to ESRI’s software product development team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors, Master’s, or Ph.D. in relevant field, depending upon position level.
  • Knowledge of ongoing SDI standards and activities and a minimum of eight years of significant experience developing SDIs such as the United States NSDI and the European INSPIRE programs.
  • Knowledge of desktop and Web-based GIS technologies, enterprise software architectures, Open Geospatial Consortium specifications, and the ISO 19000-series standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage consulting teams, software development teams, and large scale projects. Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to present to senior executives.

Recommended Qualifications:

  • 10-plus years of significant proven domain experience.

This GIS Specialist will oversee and administer the key technology components of the BRIC’s GIS, including the GIS server. The individual must have strong technical skills and experience particularly in the development, administration and maintenance of an SDE database and the administration and maintenance of systems that provide GIS data and functionality over the Web.

This GIS Manager must possess the following skills:

* Microsoft IIS web-site administration skills plus
* Must have SQL Server Database Administration experience
* Strong ESRI server software administration skills including ArcSDE database administration, ArcIMS web-site and web service administration, and ArcGIS server
* Understanding Geocoding process

Senior Product Manager, ENVI

Ability to operate in a matrix environment, coordinating people and resources across ITT Visual Information Solutions.
Up to 50% travel may be required.

Job Detail: Under general supervision, provides technical expertise and management support for the Geospatial Division. Major GIS task include web mapping development, conducting GPS & GIS training, and performing GIS tasks (as needed) such as but not limited to; geodatabase design, data transformation, ArcGIS Sever configuration and web map development, GPS’ing, cartography, spatial analysis and 3D modeling. Major management tasks (as needed) include researching geospatial business opportunities, managing geospatial tasks, managing subcontracts, consulting for aerial surveys and photogrammetry, attending geospatial conferences & meetings, and performing quality assurance/quality control for geospatial contracts. Ancillary duties may include proposal writing, database development, and support of marketing efforts. This is a new position that will require the employee to be adaptable to company and business needs.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, or related field and 5+ year’s full time GIS experience directly related to the GIS tasks listed above and a thorough understanding and use of SDSFIE. A master’s degree in the Geospatial field is preferred but not necessary as long as the candidate is willing and can be inducted into such a masters program. The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of current geospatial industry standards and prove experience with ESRI ArcGIS 9x products through previous work experience. Experience with programming languages and Oracle Database is preferred but not necessary if candidate is willing to be trained. Programming languages desired include VB, SQL, JavaScript, and HTML.

The candidate must be able to work independently and on a team with minimal guidance.
Overnight travel is estimated (not limited) to 12 weeks / year.
