The vacancy is within the Knowledge for the Energy Union Unit of Directorate C – Energy, Transport & Climate, with a mission of providing, through knowledge management, scientific and technical support to EU policies related to the Energy Union strategy implementation, most notably on its research, innovation and competitiveness pillar. Our staff (about 50) is mainly based in Petten (NL).

The successful candidate will develop and maintain a Geographic Information System (GIS) and web GIS platform for visualising, analysing and disseminating energy-related spatial data.

Specific tasks will include:

  • Geospatial database development, management
    and administration: harmonize, integrate and
    store existing geospatial datasets, ensuring
    database performance, accessibility, and integrity.
  • Web mapping services/application development:
    design, create and deploy web GIS applications to
    interactively display process and analyse spatial
    information.
  • Develop relevant metadata files following common
    standards
  • Perform spatial analysis to support the unit’s
    ongoing activities.
